Hi all. You will find under this post a couple of series of pencil drawings. These are the first efforts of what will hopefully become something good. As a result of seeing a show in Berlin recently I decided to adjust they way I make work. Most recently I took to the task of making 60 drawings in 60 days, from July 1 to August 31. I thought I would be able to make 60 really good drawings. As it turned out I made less then that, but the work that I presented I am pleased with. I will try this again in November. I am curious for any feedback. Thanks for looking. M.

Here are some sketches after Remabrandt etchings I did a few months ago.

As I mentioned on a few previous occasions I took part in a Sketching festival last month. There were many different excersizes and different activities that we all took part of them. One of them was to stand in a giant circle in the main square of the city (Halle) and work on a panoramic drawing of the square. Each of the participants was given a sheet of paper and one minute to start a drawing. Each minute we all moved on drawing over, and continued to draw on the next drawing, doing so with each drawing until we got back to our original drawing. It was a really fun expirement. The organizers have made a small movie out of all the drawings and I thought I would post it here. Just click on the link provided.  Enjoy!

.

Since the sketching festival I have started using color again, and I switch back and forth between my left and right hand. It has been very refreshing, and it is amazing how much your normal hand has learned in good and baf ways. I find my left hand to be very skilled but very much repeating the same things, where as my right hand  which is very untrained as a tool responds very sluggishly to my mental commands, making an approximation of what my eye saw and mind translated. It is wonderful as my mind needs to react differently to the marks made in order to continue to compose.
I will update this one through the month.

Here are some of my sketches from the "Skizzenfestival" in Halle this summer. It was a great trip and the interaction with other artists has really got me working to challenge myself by switching which hand I am drawing with and using other materials. Mostly however I am working on having more fun. M.

A few sketches of my friend Robert. He is a poet.
